    Good thoughts…
I don’t dispute that God’s existence cannot be scientifically proven beyond a doubt.
But given the evidence I alluded to above (as well as a number of other reasons, including my personal experience… but that’s another discussion), I personally find belief in the Christian God the most reasonable conclusion. Perhaps you could give some examples of why you find that the scientific evidence (let’s remain with the science question for now) makes him “improbable”?

@ Kate: First of all, let me clarify that I said that the God of the ancient Hebrews and Greeks (as depicted in the Old and New Testaments) is improbable.

Take the creation myth for example: there are 2 mentioned in Genesis (both can’t be right…but that’s another discussion.) We now know that there isn’t an ocean over our heads (the ancient… See More Hebrews thought that the blue sky was an ocean) with windows in it for rain to spill out. In addition, there isn’t a “firmament” separating the waters from above from the waters from below. There isn’t a dome above the “waters from above” that God resides in.

There are 2 accounts of the creation of Eve. Again, both can’t be right. In one account Eve is created from the dust of the ground along with Adam, in the other, Eve is created from Adam’s rib. Again, these are obviously myths. The bible is chock full of them.

If there is a God, he could not be anything at all like the ancients thought he was. They didn’t “know” anymore than we don’t “know.”
